stolen earth

Time to get down my thoughts about my reaction to "Stolen Earth" . . . Very strong episode -- really liked it a lot. Things that made it great:
1) Harriet Jones!!!!! She was awesome in the episode. Unfortunately, they killed her off. But I hope she comes back again anyway. (Hey, it works for the Master. And, come to think of it, Davros too.)
2) Jack flirting with Sarah!!! Loved it. And I also loved how much respect he obviously has for her. I'm guessing that he's known all along that Sarah traveled with the Doctor (it's probably part of the information on the Doctor that Torchwood One was compiling). And Sarah obviously knows about Torchwood, but I wonder if she knew Jack traveled with the Doctor too?
3) The Doctor telling the Shadow Proclamation woman that he's just going to go get her the TARDIS key. I laughed out loud, seriously. It was a great moment, and really reminded me of the end of "Five Doctors" (on purpose, I'm sure).
4) Call me crazy, but that little smile of glee on the Doctor's face when the subwave network made connection? I avow here and now that it was because he was seeing Sarah again. So there.
5) "Genesis" continuity! I was really hoping they would acknowledge that this isn't the first time Sarah's met Davros, and yep, right off the bat there's a little moment where she recognizes his voice! Loved it. Oh, and Julian Bleech did an amazing job with that voice, too -- very faithful to Michael Wisher's Davros, and he was the creepiest one. (Though to be fair, I was young back then and easily creeped.)
6) The Doctor getting shot. I was not expecting that -- in fact, when I first saw the Dalek, I thought Rose was the one who was going to get shot. Which I'm glad of, because it meant that even though Graham Norton spoiled me about the regeneration, I still didn't see it coming until it arrived.
7) Wilf!! I vote Wilf for next companion. Seriously, how awesome was he in this? From his "they always take the women" comment to his going after the Dalek with a paintball gun, he just ruled every scene he was in.
8) And credit to RTD, because I was really afraid this would turn into a huge multi-character muddle, but it didn't . . . everyone was there for a reason, and everyone had their own little moments (including Luke, Gwen and Ianto). And he kept it up for "Journey's End," but I'll save that for another post and another day.
