Just saw "Flesh and Stone," and then I spent the last hour reading other people's reaction posts, and my brain is now too full of the timey-wimey to make sense of anything.

I do have to say, though, that while I don't enjoy spoilers, all the speculation is fascinating, and I really appreciate how much more observant everyone else is than I am.

Oh, and my VCR once again failed to record correctly, and this time I really don't know what went wrong. Fortunately, the episode is on again in an hour, so this time I am going to record it manually. Which I could have done when I watched it live at 6 p.m., but I thought it better to set the timer just in case I was unexpectedly interrupted by something, and then I didn't notice that it wasn't actually recording correctly. What could I have done wrong this time? I thought I was being careful when I set the timer. It's almost as if my setting up the VCR was affected by some mysterious crack in the universe . . .

ETA: I thought this entry was spoiler-free enough to not cut, but I give away spoilers in the comments, so be warned.

OMG Jacket!Doctor! I did *not* notice that at all when I first saw it, but now I am really buying into this idea that the Doctor will cross his timeline. Which is just so incredibly cool, I can't even begin to describe it.

Moffat is indeed frakking with us. It's like he's counting on the fact that all these forums are going to be discussing continuity errors that turn out to not be errors at all.

Now I want to know -- what does Amy have to remember? What did the Doctor say to her when he was seven? Who did River kill? The obvious conclusion is she killed the Doctor, but she doesn't seem upset about it at all, which is strange. I thought I understood River pretty well after Silence / Forest, and now I feel like I have absolutely no idea who or what she is. Is she going to appear in this season's finale? It certainly seems that way . . .

Okay...do you remember in The Eleventh Hour...it has a shot back to Amelia, and you hear the TARDIS and then it immediately fades to grown up Amy, who is hearing the TARDIS on the night before her wedding. My thought is HE CAME BACK. He visited her...told her he would always come back, she would just have to wait and that she needed to trust him, but the crack made her forget that. Just my theory.

And yes...River SO killed The Doctor...but I think it may have been something along the lines of, she HAD to kill The Doctor, to save something else, which is why she is sorta okay with it. That or (and this is where my crack theory goes really CrAcKy), it's not The Doctor...but perhaps Captain Jack, because she is Time Agent, and she knows Jack. So her and Jack had a thing, but she "killed" him, even though Jack can't die, but she thinks he can. I dunno. Just a thought.

What I find odd is River recognizes Donna's name, but Amy doesn't even seem to phase her. One would think she'd know all his companion's names, and so when she met Amy she would have gone "Ah, Amy...good to finally meet you." Or something like that.

Edit: Apparently she IS on the Roll Sheet for the last episodes. Obviously she can't kill THIS Doctor though. Matt's signed up for another Series plus he's doing SJA this Summer)

I do remember that, and more than ever I am starting to think that it is very, very significant. As to what happened, though, I have no idea. But I think you're right, and this idea of trust is going to have a big role to play.

And yes...River SO killed The Doctor...but I think it may have been something along the lines of, she HAD to kill The Doctor

That's my guess too, but it still seems like she would be sad at seeing him again, and/or glad to see him alive, even if she'd already known they would meet again. Although on the other hand, the last time the Doctor saw River she had sacrificed herself for him, and he's not giving any of that away. (Of course he may have also seen her again as Ten; we don't know.) I'll be disappointed if it does turn out to be Jack, though. I wouldn't mind seeing him show up again on the show, but I don't particularly want it to happen this soon.

As for the Donna / Amy thing, this may not be the first time she's met Amy in her timeline. We know Silence / Forest is the only time she meets Donna. It also makes sense that Donna would be a companion the Doctor might have particularly talked about.

And I'm really guessing here, but I think River *does* kill the Doctor -- kill as in dead, not just regenerate -- but time somehow gets rewritten.

Or perhaps (and now this is reaching) she kills him when he's on his 13th Regeneration. The "last" one according to Classic!Who. So something happens and she "kills" him. (He sacrafices himself for her or something along those lines.) She thinks he's going to die, he thinks he's going to die, they're okay with it and BOOM...he regenerates anyway. All that Artron energy from him being CONSTANTLY in the TARDIS, allows him to regenerate again. Bingo, bango, bungo..new new, new new new Doctor!!

Which actually...that whole Artron energy thing, in my mind, would make an AWESOME fanfic, with regards to the gal who's spent a fair amount of time in the TARDIS *cough*SarahJane*cough*

Laughing at your icon -- I'm glad I'm not the only one who made the Monty Python / comfy chair connection!

I don't think it's going to be Thirteen; I think we're going to see it, which means it has to be Eleven.

I dunno. I somehow get this feeling that The Moff is not going to let us know. Or at least, not going to let us see it. Could happen anytime...anyplace...anywhere.

Of course...Time Can Be Re-Written...so there's always that.

So you think you are strong because you can survive the soft cushions. Well, we shall see. Biggles! Put her in the Comfy Chair!

Speaking of Monty Python, don't forget that this episode also featured The Bishop . . .

THE BISHOP!

One of the only Python sketches that I kept going "Really? Really?" Though...seeing Ewic in a dress always made me happy.

:D

Jonesy was brilliant though. Gotta' admit.
