-- I'm behind on a report for work. Really, really behind. Having a friend come into town who was only supposed to stay for one night, but ended up staying for three instead, did not help the situation. However, notice that I am presently on LJ instead of working. I suspect that I really, really hate this report, with the white-hot passion of a thousand burning suns. But that's just a suspicion, mind.
-- My friend is a Harry Potter fan, and last night "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was on TV, so we ended up watching it. I've read the books but I've not seen all the movies, and while I remember the overall plot arcs of the series, I get mixed up about exactly what happened in each book. So, imagine my surprise when suddenly: David Tennant! I knew he played Barty Crouch Jr., but I'd forgotten that this was the one with Barty Crouch Jr. in it. It was fun to see him playing a character who was so different from the Doctor. I do have to ask, though -- what's up with the tongue? I mean, really, does the guy waggle it around in all of his roles?
-- Speaking of seeing DW actors playing baddies, I caught John Barrowman's opening turn in "Desperate Housewives," and I thought he did a great job of being both very charming and very malevolent. I don't normally watch the show, but I think I'll be following along for a bit to see how his plot develops.
-- I should also mention how completely blown away I am by the fantastic reaction I got for my latest
50ficlets fic, On the Benefits of Having an Attic. It even got a rec! (I hope that's not too crass of me to link, but it's so rare for me to get a rec, I can't help bouncing and squeeing a little.) Thank you everyone who reviewed! I can't tell you what it means to have something nice happen when I am hating other parts of my life with the white-hot passion of a thousand burning suns.

Date: 2010-03-25 06:37 pm (UTC)And, ym, well, the book selection website at work was being painfully slow so I did random Google searches on another tab to keep me sane. 'vvj5 rec' brought a couple of intersting results, but that was amusing, especially trying to interpret the garbled translations!

Date: 2010-03-26 03:37 am (UTC)I saw that! Go you!!! I always get excited when someone on my flist makes Calufrax -- it makes me feel close to greatness. : )
I tried your Google trick, but given that I use the same name for Teaspoon and for LJ, I got back way too much stuff -- my own "randomly generated fic rec" entries, the stories I recced for Calufrax and every single time I left a comment on somebody else's rec. Plus other weird, random things, like when I left a review on Teaspoon and someone else used the word "rec" somewhere. Oh well, now I'll just have to fantasize about all the random people out there who have probably recced me in Germany, that I'll never know about. ; ) It was a fun exercise, though.

Date: 2010-03-27 10:49 am (UTC)Yes, I get that too. You can try titles, dbskyler fic, or other stuff. *cogh* Not that I got very, very, very bored... *cough*
I am sure you are a great hit in Germany and other European countries. They'll be discussing your Sarah Jane fic constantly, I'm sure.
btw, so glad to see you managed to get the Report of Doom finished!
