So um, yeah, remember that whole plan to go into [community profile] fic_rush with 10 prompts, and come out of it with somewhere around 10 short fics?

Ha ha ha ha ha, I am so funny.

Okay, I did manage one short fic. And it's a complete fic -- yay!-- although short, but it's one of those short fics that needs to be short, at least in my opinion.

But as for writing to the other 9 prompts, not so much. The prompts you guys gave me looked interesting, and then there were the ones I chose myself from the random pairings generator, but when it came to trying to imagine writing anything to them, it was a big fat blank.

However, as I said, I did write one story to one prompt, and I did write a drabble recently to another prompt, so at least the muse is waking up a little bit, although obviously she's still a little sleepy. Thank you to those of you who gave me prompts, and I'll keep them around, and if they do inspire me later, I will do something on them if I can.

On the bright side of fic_rush, [personal profile] primsong came and joined us and seemed to actually like it! I still encourage everyone to come try it out next round, even if it's just for an hour or two. It's a great feeling to get writing encouragement -- not to mention useful tips -- from others, it's nice to pass encouragement along to others, and if nothing else, it really teaches you the value of an hour.

Look on the bright side! One short fic + a drabble > one short fic.

Also, on short fic> no short fic.

So, you actually did good! :)

Yes, especially since I'd been sitting at fic = 0 for a pretty long time! Also, I like both the short fic and the drabble, so even better! I would've been happy just to get going on the writing again, so it's an extra bonus to produce things that I'm actually happy to have produced.

It really was fun, even if I spent the majority of the time wishing the world would stop so I could just write like I theoretically was supposed to be doing. I recommend it! It was a great kick-starter and I made significant progress on the chapter that had been staring back at me blankly for a good three weeks. :-)

I remember having to tease my plot bunnies back into action last year after I wrote Nativitas. :(

I've spent time before and after sleeping last night in wrangling a dark!Ten fic bunny - Ten in almost-unstoppable 'Time Lord Victorious' mode. If I write it the fic'll be the darkest I've ever written! o_O

(This is what I get for reading the prompts over at [livejournal.com profile] dark_fest yesterday!)

Oooh, I've been wanting to read "Time Lord Victorious" fic for awhile but I haven't found anything good. I'd be really interested to see what you come up with if you choose to go to the dark side!

I'm just doing a post - on my writing filter - about it. Are you interested in being on my (admittedly seldom used) writing filter? It's what I use when I want to talk in more detail about a fic that I'm working on but don't want to talk to everyone about (since not everyone on my FList reads my fics).

So on that filter you blog about the writing process? Yes, I'd love to be on that! I find reading about the writing process very interesting no matter what -- I'd still read even if it's about the writing process for the most ridiculous boatload of drivel ever created (which reminds me, I need to buy "The Writer's Tale" *g*).

Hmm - not so much Blog about the writing process, as blog about particularly tricky plot bunnies. I used it extensively before and during writing Nativitas, for example - including posting extracts of the darker portions of the fic for feedback as I was writing. Anyway, I'll add you and you can take a look via the writing filter tag(s)...

So you should! There are very few people ON that filter. (Eight now I've just added you!)

So you'll now be able to read the "Writing Filter" post I made this morning...
