I've been having a very interesting time with the Yuletide challenge. A brief summary:

-- Dither over whether I should sign up or not, dither over which fandoms I should offer / request, sign up, and have the "oh my God, I can't believe I'm really going to do this!" moment.

-- Worry over the request I'm going to receive and the fandom it's going to be in.

-- Get the request! And it's a great request, and something I can do! Get tremendously excited.

-- Start to work on the fic, and start to think I can't do the request after all.

-- Continue to worry that I am not fulfilling what my recipient actually wants. This is partly based on the fact that I write the first 700 words without one of the requested characters making an appearance.

-- Think that I might need to dump my 700 words and start completely over.

-- Decide to continue on in this direction and see where it takes me. Hope that it takes me to somewhere in the vicinity of what my recipient requested. Roughly. Ish.

-- Spend three solid days over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend writing.

-- Finish the fic and stare at it.

Yep, I have finished my Yuletide fic, and it's not even December yet! I know, I can't believe it either. I also had no problem with the 1,000-word limit. Of course, it still needs to be beta'ed (working on getting a beta-reader now), and I might still find all sorts of things I want to change in it, but, um . . . yeah. I even think (hope) that it might be somewhere along the lines of what my recipient wants.

Oh, and I also reallly, really like it. Unfortunately, I now have a long wait until people will be able to actually read it. I knew there were advantages to procrastination . . . ; )

When the prompts are posted for treat writing you may change your mind. :)

And now my parents are gone, so here I go to review canon.
