Feeling the fanfic itch again

Hi everyone! I don't even remember the last time I posted, but I'm finally starting to feel fannish again, so I am finding myself lurking here a little more, and I'm re-reading fanfic. I am also feeling the itch to write again, which is great because the last time I wrote anything was over three years ago (!)

As a way of easing myself back in, I have compared my fics on Teaspoon to those on AO3 and started importing some that I hadn't moved over. Which led to an interaction this evening where I had to explain to an AO3 reader why a fic I wrote in 2009 didn't reference an episode that aired in 2010. Which also led to my realizing that I used to write fanfic a very long time ago. Has it really been that long since we were all on LJ together and excited about new episodes with the Tenth Doctor?

Yes. Yes, it has. sigh

Anyway, I'm enjoying feeling the itch to write again, so that's something at least. Although I'm not sure yet which fandom I want to write in. Or if I will end up writing at all, for that matter. But that's the thing about time, right? It passes while you're not looking, but it can always surprise you. Looking forward to finding out what happens next.

Time is very weird. I found my old fic folder on my computer last night, and I discovered a bunch of plotbunnies that I'd completely forgotten about. I also found the beginning of a fic that I didn't recognize at all, and while I liked it, I now have absolutely no idea where I was originally going with it.

Heh, yes, I've got files from before I became so ill and there are definitely some things in there that I had no memory of at all when I looked at them!

Yeah, it's like, "What is this? Who wrote it? What's it doing on my computer?" And then you slowly realize that you must have written it, but your memory of it is a complete blank.

By the way, I was doing a lot of poking around in Space: 1999 episodes and fanfic and plotbunnies, but then I came across a plotbunny for a Doctor Who crack!fic, and now it has sucked me in. I'm a little worried because I haven't been keeping up with Doctor Who episodes, so I have no idea if there is new canon that is relevant, but crack!fic doesn't have to worry about canon, right?

I think fanfic generally isn't legally obliged to worry too much about canon, but especially not crackfic!! XD I would certainly love to see any crackfic you might have up your sleeve.
