dbskyler: (Four fanfic)

I'm so excited that you matched me on one of these fandoms! Here's some information about my general likes and dislikes, and some prompt ideas by fandom. But these prompts are just ideas, and I am pretty easy to please. If your muse is leading you to a better story than I am, feel free to follow it! I will most enjoy reading a story that you genuinely enjoyed writing.

General likes:
• Stories that play off of, explain, or expand on something we saw in canon.
• Missing scenes, episode prequels, and episode tags.
• Character studies and relationship studies, especially stories that explore strong friendships.
• Humor of all types, up to and including crack.
• Hurt/comfort, especially when it brings out caring relationships between friends.

General dislikes:
• Stories with ratings above PG-13(ish)
• Pairing up characters that were not romantically paired in canon. I'm not a big shipper, and creating new het and slash pairings out of canon characters doesn't usually work for me.
• AUs that change canon settings, such as coffeeshop AUs. (AUs that work within canon -- such as changed timelines in SJA -- are fine.)

DNW: Sex scenes, graphic violence, gore.

Here are my requests and fandom-specific prompts again, so everything's in one place:

Space: 1999: Maya, Tony Verdeschi

This is my "someday my fic will come" request. I've asked for it every Yuletide I've signed up for, and I haven't gotten it yet, but I still want it!

I love Tony and Maya. I love them separately as characters and I love them together as a "you say you're not in love but we know you really are" couple. I'm not a big shipper, but this is the big exception -- I think they eventually married each other and lived happily ever after. I especially love how Maya is so smart, and incredibly powerful with her ability to transform herself, but also fundamentally insecure about her place with the humans (this especially comes out in the episodes where it looks like they might get back to Earth). But she is always comfortable with Tony. As for him, he never seems fazed or intimidated by her, he is very protective of her even though she is (can become) stronger than him, and he genuinely appreciates that she's smarter than he is. I love what that says about him and about their relationship.

Prompt ideas: Tony and Maya's first meeting -- was he initially suspicious of her, or did he trust her right away? Moonbase Alpha coming across something from Psychon civilization -- how would this affect Maya, and how would Tony respond? One or both of them getting hurt in some way, and the other comforting them. Futurefic where they're in an established relationship, still on the Moonbase or on a planet somewhere. Or what if they do find a way back to Earth -- what then?

If you want some inspiration, see this shippy fanvid, which shows off all the wonderful '70s cheesiness of Maya's transformations to boot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8acdNWKk0b0

Sarah Jane Adventures: Sarah Jane Smith

I love the hope and optimism of Sarah Jane Adventures, and the way it shows how ordinary people -- even teenagers -- can quite literally save the world. Of course, Sarah does have a little bit of extraterrestrial help and background knowledge, but she is also, and importantly, normal. Sarah was the companion when I first started watching Doctor Who back in the 1970s as a young teen, and I remember admiring her so much. She was independent. She was smart. She was curious. The Doctor respected her. She became a role model for me back when there weren't many strong, smart, independent, and respected women on television, let alone ones who were normal. She wasn't "Wonder Woman" or the "Bionic Woman" or super-powered in any way. She was Sarah Jane Smith from South Croydon, and I didn't know where that was but it sounded like the type of place that I could be from, too.

I asked for Sarah because I want a story centered on her, but appearances by others from SJA and/or the wider Whoniverse are also welcome. My other two favorites from the show are Clyde and Gita, but I have no dislikes here.

Prompt ideas: Sarah must encounter friendly aliens from time to time, but we never get to see those stories, so tell me one! Or tell me a story from the days before the pilot episode, when Sarah was defending the Earth without the help of the teens. Or how about a fic where Sarah is giving lessons about aliens to the teens, or to Alan? I also loved the craziness of Sarah trying to hide the alien-from-eBay in "The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith," so how about more of that kind of thing, maybe with Gita in the mix? Or how about something playing on Sarah's experiences from Classic Who days, perhaps involving the Brig? For example, what if Sarah and the teens ran across one of the New Who Zygons living on Earth -- how would she react, given her history with them?

Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased): Marty Hopkirk

This show is a nostalgic childhood favorite of mine. I have a special fondness for this type of supernatural setup -- one person can see and hear the ghost, but no one else can -- but I also love this show in particular because of the strong friendship between Marty and Jeff, their banter, and the frequent humor. I asked for Marty because to me Marty is what makes this show -- how he's a ghost but forgets sometimes, how he still has this great relationship with Jeff, how he's nervous and neurotic (especially about other ghosts), and how he's actually surprisingly smart and a good detective. Feel free to also bring in Jeff and/or Jeannie. I see Marty as faithful to his widow, so please don't pair him with anyone else.

Prompt ideas: I love how Marty is afraid of the supernatural despite being a supernatural being himself, so how about more of that, maybe on Halloween? Or write me anything playing on the strong friendship between Jeff and Marty, such as Jeff risking himself for Marty, or vice versa. Or if you're familiar with the Randall & Hopkirk remake with Reeves and Mortimer, I'd love to see 1969-version Marty interact with Wyvern. Or even without Wyvern, tell me more about Marty's experiences in the afterlife. Is he confined to Earth, or can he travel to a version of limbo? All those times we and Jeff see him disappear -- just where does he go, anyway?
