Was feeling a little down today, so decided to cheer myself up by going to the bookstore to look at their Doctor Who DVD collection and maybe treat myself to one. So there I am, perusing "Logopolis" and "Armageddon Factor" and trying to decide if it's time yet to add them to my permanent DVD collection (I still have both on taped-off-the-TV videotape) when I decide to take a look at what DVDs are available on the other shelves and what do I see?
Quark!! Yes, that old, failed sci-fi comedy with Richard Benjamin and that guy from Mork and Mindy, and the guy playing the plant, and Gene/Jean, and those twins or clones or whatever they were (my memory's a little fuzzy), and I haven't seen the show since it went off the air but I know immediately that I must own it. Because it's $20 for the entire series, and it's Quark! I used to love the show when I was young. And when I sit down with it tonight I might think it's incredibly stupid, but I don't care. It's just awesome to own it, even if it hasn't held up over time (or into acquiring adult brain cells). If nothing else, my having bought it might encourage the TV industry to put other failed sci-fi shows out on DVD. Misfits of Science, anyone?
