I watched a few reruns of Law & Order:UK tonight. They have one major problem: they don't have nearly enough Peter Davison. They also don't have enough Peter-and-Freema scenes. (They do, however, have a lot of Doctor Who commercials; BBC America seems to be assuming that at least some of the audience are also Doctor Who fans. Correctly, in my case. *g*)

However, having had a small Peter Davison taste, I've realized how much I miss seeing him regularly on my TV. Obviously a Fifth Doctor marathon is long overdue. Interspersed, perhaps, with some All Creatures Great and Small?

I confess to selfishly hoping PD will have finished Legally Blonde by the time they come to film the next 13 episodes (which they'll be starting soon), because I DO love Peter's Henry Sharpe - and his relationship of long-suffering silence over Jake with Alesha is utterly beautiful. (I get the impression that Alesha's a bit closer to Henry than she was to George Castle (Bill Paterson's character) - which is interesting given Jake and Henry already knew each other before joining the CPS.)

(And I really must upload my new iconses from [livejournal.com profile] lost_spook!)

He did seem to be having a blast with Legally Blonde, but yes, now that I've seen him perform in it, he clearly must now move on to filming things that I can watch on my TV.

And yes, upload those icons! I had to rotate an icon out to make room for this one, but I regret nothing. It makes me smile whenever I see it.

I will do my icons - but right now I'm listening to the freebie Five and Erimem audio from Big Finish: No Place Like Home - that's a download link, by the way!

Welcome! I should really post more widely about that and the other 2 or 3 BF audios they've been giving away this month!

I enjoyed it - and was most amused to learn Fivey's embarrassed by Three's frilly shirts and smoking jackets! :D

Ha, this is very funny - because I had been wondering what to watch next, and having seen that clip you posted decided that more Peter Davison was required and opted for Campion. (I did rewatch some All Creatures a couple months ago. It is good, but, as I had recalled as a child, some of the bits without Tristan or Siegfried really are a bit dull. Poor Christopher Timothy; you'd have to be some sort of genius to compete with Robert Hardy, Peter Davison and a lot of animals.)

(Campion is excellent, and he is particularly good, even for him. And seems to be required to sing for no reason at least once per episode, which most detectives fail to do.) If your planned watching doesn't meet the required Davison-quota, I can recommend it! :-)

I mean, I realise the sensible reaction would have been to watch L&O, but never mind.

(Sorry, edited for slight incoherency.)

I'd never even heard of Campion, so you made me go look it up. It looks interesting, but Netflix (my main source for renting DVDs) doesn't carry it! So, it's going to have to go on the back burner for now.

I did watch a little "All Creatures" though. Christopher Timothy does have a difficult job, especially as he has to play the straight man much of the time. The show moves more slowly than I remember, but then I originally watched it when I was a child. In fact, Peter Davison is the only actor I already knew before he was cast as the Doctor. (Unless you count Colin Baker's appearance in Arc of Infinity.) And yes, that includes New Who.

Oh noes! Do they not realise that you need moar Peter? :-D It's based on Margery Allingham's series of books (sorry, I thought they were more well known, even if the BBC dramatisation might not be). If they ever realise the error of their ways, you should definitely give it a try.

And aha, but wait you had already watched Elizabeth R, hadn't you? So you actually did secretly know Robert Hardy. (About the only thing in British TV Robert Hardy has NOT been in is DW. I don't know how that happened. You just assume Robert Hardy will turn up in everything at some point, and be awesome. It's a universal law of British TV. :-D)
