This is a mini fic_rush post that will contain spam, mentions of alien fish, and possibly also reports of myself and/or other people making progress on their fics over the weekend. Have at it!
I tried to get a snack out of a vending machine before English class, so as to have some blood sugar with which to deal with my annoying professor... instead, the vending machine ATE MY $5 BILL! *glares* (And I have no idea what to do about it.)
On the other hand, I just turned in one of my papers - now I've just to write/finish three more o_O for this class and one for another class. Gah.
YAAAAY! It's still ONE DOWN! Always look on the bright side of life etc.
As for the vending machine (eurgh!) - doesn't it have a number on it you can call if it eats your money? All the vending machines I've ever seen had those, you tell them how much money it ate and they give you a refund...
Well, there is a number on it... I guess I'll try that.
I just turned in another paper - I'd had it almost finished, then the teacher said something that made it sound like I had the totally wrong end of the stick, then a friend who'd taken the class said "oh, but it's _______"... gah. Oh well, I don't even care right now how good it is - I'm just trying to get them done.
I hate it when this happens. Although, from my experience, these usually end up not as bad as you think they are. Hey, I once handed in an essay that completely missed the point of the topic, but the lecturer found it so interesting that he gave me 100 on it anyway! :)
Hmpf. I kinda feel bad about commenting cos about 60% of the comments in this thread have my microwave in them!
Anyway, overall tonight around 1,100 words. I'm kinda getting tired, I probably should go to sleep and wake up tomorrow with no need to do laundry and battle floodings and have the energy to write...
Sleep well, and let's pick up again tomorrow (or possibly late tonight for me). I'll be able to write during the day tomorrow, so at least we can overlap then!
I ended up going out tonight instead of writing. Just got back, and it's almost midnight, so I am now going to bed instead of writing. Hopefully some progress will be made tomorrow!
I'm baaaack! Spamming your journal all alone, I suspect.
Have written 330 words, and then got distracted by the shiny internet. Also, the fuzzy animals survived the fire! Hooray! When I went to sleep last night they were assumed to not have survived.
In a severe case of tempting Fate/Plot Bunnies, I asked my FList what original fiction character they'd like to see me write (ie not a character from a fandom) - and someone gave me "a scholar researching a mystery, preferably historical". I realised that I didn't have a 'career' lined up for Ms Dora Hilditch of my 'Hilditch & Key' original fic story (paranormal detectives in an Alternate History - how many genres can I mash?!) - although the other four characters all have jobs/careers: Dr Maryam Sabeti is a WW1 VAD turned doctor training to be a psychiatrist; Edward Jesson is a former lawyer turned Detective Inspector; Jimmy Locke is a genius mechanic; and Ms Hilda Key (nee Hildegarde Kerbitz) is a female German equivalent to Alan Turing.
So now Hilditch is an amateur scholar with an interest in Out of Place Artefacts who'll end up investigating several OOP Artefacts turned up during work by the Imperial War Graves Commission to create cemetaries and memorials to the dead of WW1.
So, one plot bunny duly tamed!
Only problem is - this is too much to fit into the current fic, which means I'll be writing a sequel to 'The Mysterious Lodge'. Oh well!
And continuing the pointless, lonely updating/spamming: I HAVE FINISHED THE CHAPTER OF DOOM. Rejoice! And to think that 5000 words ago I thought it's going to be the shortest chapter yet in this story...
I am awake. I am thinking about writing. I am also thinking about breakfast. And thinking about whether I want to go out and buy sufganyot for breakfast (which I will have to call doughnuts or no one will know what I'm talking about), or whether I will just eat what I have here.
Or perhaps I'll lie in bed with my cats a little longer. They're awfully cute.
Cats have left, alas, so I am going to get up now. I have a Hanukkah family get-together later today which will probably involve a fair amount of eating, so I will be good and leave the sufganyot for tomorrow.
