It's been five days since I posted my latest fic, "The Spotter's Guide to the Doctor," and it got a hugely positive reception, so much so that it's left me a little dumbfounded. In fact, based on the number of reviews and favorites, it is now my most popular story on Teaspoon. Given that before this it had been five months since I'd completed a fic, I'm feeling pretty happy right now. I should write fanfic more often, shouldn't I? (Not that I haven't been trying to work on that . . . )

Another thing that's making me happy is the return of Sarah Jane Adventures! Elisabeth Sladen did a marvelous acting job in "The Nightmare Man," and it's just wonderful to see the show back again.

Something else that is making me very happy: we are now just two weeks away from the episode of SJA! Is it possible to grin continuously for two weeks? I think I might be finding out!

Finally, on a less self-absorbed note, all the trapped Chilean miners are now free! It was great to see so many people come together and successfully pull off such a complicated rescue. Watching that capsule go down and up was the best reality television show ever. Vive Chile!

Good for you! I'm glad to hear your writing is doing well. And yes, you should write more, you're great at it! Actually, the day you posted the fic, I went back to go re-read all your stuff I liked, even went and clicked on some of the stories I hadn't taken the time to read up 'til then XD That was fun.

SJA was fun! I've been so feeling deprived of Whoverse stuff lately. I liked the horror-story feel and there were a great number of touching moments in the episode that i just loved (I think I loved Mr. Smith's goodbye to K9 a little more than its worth). Old!Mad!Sarah Jane was disturbing and fun XD. I was sad to see Luke and K9 go though.

About that episode, oh god, I'm getting more and more impatient. The episode was given an advanced screening the other night and it's kinda killing me to know that some people have already seen it RRGGGHHHHHHHH. I think I'd be faring better if the episodes were airing next week, but no, we have to wait TWO weeks. I need to learn you spoiler-avoidance techniques.

I heard about the miners too. That's great news!

Aw, thanks for the kind words about my writing. Although you're reading my old stuff, really? 'Cause there's one or two stories that I'm a little embarrassed about now. ; )

And yes, yay for SJA! I absolutely loved Mad!Sarah, and I thought that Lis did a spectacular job (also she seemed to be having a lot of fun).

I need to learn you spoiler-avoidance techniques.

Actually, I haven't been doing as well this time -- I've stumbled across two spoilers for that episode already. Both are small spoilers, fortunately, but both were cases where I clicked on posts that seemed on the surface to have nothing to do with SJA at all, but then there were surprises waiting within. With S5, at least I knew to stay away from everything! ; )

I do wish people were better at labeling spoilery posts, though. My flist is very good at it, but the comms are a risky place these days.

I too have learned a little more about the episode than I wanted to, and in my case it's *more* than two spoilers -_-'. Nothing too plot related, but they were tidbits I think I were better off being surprised by while watching the actual episode. I'm so bad it this, I don't think I've gone spoiler free for shows I watch since I was a little kid, back when I didn't know how to use the internet.

It doesn't help I'm too easily tempted.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I saw "Army of Ghosts" back before I was on LJ, and there was a surprise in that episode that was great, a true "OMG!" moment that I somehow think would not have been a surprise if I had been more involved in Doctor Who fandom at the time. But LJ and the internet have pointed me towards a lot of wonderful stuff I would never have known about otherwise -- for example, the Planet of the Dead parody by Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre -- so it's worth it anyway.

You writing more = a very good thing! Glad the story's proving so popular!

SJA got a leetle bit too mawkish towards the middle of ep 2. But that's kinda standard fare for SJA so I ignored it.

Yeah, I agree, and yeah, me too. I enjoyed the rest, though!

YES. :-)

I still haven't seen SJA - I'll have to do some catching up, I can tell.

What? You've never seen any SJA? Not even the episode that brought back the Brigadier??? Oh, you must! I think you would really like the show. It's well-written, and most of the time it's very easy to forget that it's a children's show (although every once in awhile there's a slightly preachy / mawkish scene where you do get reminded). Besides being a solid piece of entertainment, it slips in far more Classic Who references than the parent show does: sly things in the background (a picture of Harry Sullivan on a shelf), throw-away dialogue references (Metebelis 3 got a mention), actual flashbacks (we saw Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker!) and of course, special guest stars like the one we're getting soon. So definitely give it a try. You can jump right in, too -- no need to go back and hunt up old episodes to get up to speed.

Don't worry; I have watched most of the rest. Especially the one with the Brigadier, yes. :-D

RITE MOAR!

I still need to catch SJA :( Am... acquiring... the episodes as I'm typing this, seeing as I'm in my parents' house and have proper internet, hoozah! And yeah, I can't wait til these episodes, too! I'll have to make sure my work-time surfing is spoiler avoiding...

RITE MOAR!

I'm going to try, in about 1 hour and 11 minutes . . . :D

Yes, give SJA a try! See what I said to [personal profile] thisbluespirit above. They do have some clunker episodes, but then so does Doctor Who, and the overall quality is excellent.

Oh, nononono! I've definitely watched SJA and love it! Just not the two episodes from series 4 that were already broadcast :D I'm eagerly anticipating it.

(hooray for writing moar!)

Oh, I get it now. And actually, maybe that's what [personal profile] thisbluespirit meant, too. Sorry, it's been a long week . . .

Anyway, yes, I thought "Nightmare Man" was very good! Hope you enjoy it.
