Star Trek: Enterprise and crazy plots
Oct. 21st, 2016 01:28 amI was flipping through TV channels tonight, and I happened to randomly come across Scott Bakula in the back of a truck with a bunch of Nazis. At first I thought it must be some episode of Quantum Leap that I hadn't seen before, but no, it turned out to be Star Trek: Enterprise. With Nazis. But not just any old Nazis. These Nazis were being led by aliens who want to change Earth's past. Yes, alien Nazis.
I didn't watch enough of it to tell you more, although I did wonder if there was a weathered Kansas farmer Time Lord* lurking around somewhere.
* An unfilmed crazy plot from Doctor Who, with bits available from a tape of Paul McGann's audition. There's a weathered Kansas farmer Time Lord, the Doctor, and Nazis. Presumably regular Nazis, not alien Nazis.

Date: 2016-10-22 05:32 pm (UTC)"Temporal Cold War"? Eek. I don't know why they didn't just stick to their premise of exploring the beginning of the Federation. They could have struck a note halfway between TOS (straight-up exploration) and DS9 (political intrigue), but no, they had to go crazy with the plots, like they were afraid the standard Star Trek formula wasn't interesting anymore.

Date: 2016-10-31 08:40 pm (UTC)The only other episode I'd recommend is Future Tense, as an artefact from the days when Doctor Who was an obscure, long-cancelled British show fit only to be strip-mined for concepts.
