Thought I'd take a whack at that WIP meme that was going around. I only have two, and they're not secret (I'm not including my Yuletide fic) so I'll go ahead and identify them for you. I'm still hoping to eventually finish them.
My oldest WIP is for Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), the 1969 version. The fic itself isn't quite that old, but it is embarrassingly old. Here's an excerpt:
"All right, hang on," he said, even though he knew Jeff couldn't hear him. Closing his eyes again, he homed in on the sound this time and opened his eyes to find himself in a hallway, facing a portrait of a rather grumpy-looking man. He turned around and came face-to-face with Jeff. He decided that, on the whole, the portrait had looked more pleased.
And this is from an unpublished portion of "Turn Again," my most frustrating WIP, which I still hope to eventually wrestle into submission:
"Wherever did you get that idea?" The Doctor drew back and looked at her. "Of course we count. We count because we're here; we count because we exist, and it doesn't matter if we were supposed to exist or not. Not only that," he added, "we count because we're going to save the universe. Both universes. Every universe. You and me, Sarah." A grin came over his face, a pure expression of delight.
I have lots of other story fragments and ideas, but nothing I would call an actual WIP. Here's an example from back when we were all anticipating David Tennant's regeneration. I actually had both a title and a summary, but nothing else (unusual, because normally it's the other way around):
Five Ways to Kill a Time Lord
Can I see the one with the brick again?
But it never went anywhere after that. Actually, I can't even tell you how many times I've had a "Five Times"-type fic idea, and none of them ever go anywhere after that.

Date: 2014-12-17 07:23 am (UTC)Can I see the one with the brick again? got a giggle. One, because lol, and two, because it reminded me of my own attempt at the "Ten is going to kick it soon" genre... which has been sitting at 10k since late 2009. :/

Date: 2014-12-18 12:43 am (UTC)Aw, thanks! I really do consider it an active WIP, although it is breaking speed records for slowness.
And wow, 10k of "Ten is going to kick it soon" fic? I want to read that! Any chance you will take that one up again?

Date: 2014-12-18 02:45 am (UTC)Probably not. :/
Though, if you're really interested I could email it to you. Every so often I poke at it again, and some point it morphed into EOT fix-it fic. It's really a hopelessly muddled mess.
