I'm trying to watch "Gracepoint," which is on my television right now. Oh David, what are you trying to do with that "American" accent? It sounds like you're trying to be from Boston, maybe? With a touch of . . . Aberdeen?

We love your Scottish accent over here! Next time, try to talk them into letting you use it! (Except, please don't be quite so mumbly as you were in "Broadchurch," okay?)

I actually caught about half of last night's episode and David's accent made me want to cry. His American accent is so bad. It's so... nasally.

They should have let me keep his Scottish accent. Plus there's a character on the show who has a British accent, the lady who runs the hotel, I think, so it wouldn't be weird if there was another character with a non-American accent. We have a lot of cops here with UK accents.

It really is a terrible accent. I thought at first that maybe I was too used to hearing him sound either Scottish or English, and therefore wasn't giving him a fair chance. So I kept the TV on, closed my eyes, and just listened. Then I heard something horrible, thought "OMG, what the hell accent is that supposed to be," opened my eyes, and sure enough, it was David.

Yes, he should get to use his real accent. And, who in the producer's office / at the network thought that he was pulling off an American accent and let that go to broadcast?

The man has many talents, but American accents is not one of them. Funny how both he and Karen Gillan have to put on an American accent for this TV season. Let's the Scots have their native accents!

FOX doesn't always make the greatest decisions sometimes. ;-)

He sounds to me like he's wibbling back and forth in every sentence. It's distracting to listen to. The poor man can't seem to get a proper grip on the second syllable of "Miller," which my American (Californian) accent, at least, pronounces way up in the front of the mouth with a firm "R" on the end.

Much better in Broadchurch, though I agree about mumbly.

It's very distracting to listen to, yes! You can't pay attention to what he's saying, because you're too busy paying attention to how he's saying it, and the changes in how he's saying it. If he were at least consistent, maybe I could get used to it? (Well, probably not, but, you know, maybe?)

I ended up having to put the closed captioning on for Broadchurch, which was annoying, but it was the only way I could understand everything. Very frustrating, especially when I can understand every single thing David says in TV interviews without a problem.
