(STORY HERE) )

I've finally returned from a great Thanksgiving and general time away from work. I have also finished my very first ficathon entry ever (see previous post) for a ficfest put on by [livejournal.com profile] dw_historical. And it's not even due 'til Saturday, and I went well over the word minimum of 500 -- it's over 3,000 words long! So, all my deadline worries were groundless. One deadline consequence though is that I pretty much had to decide on a story and go with it rather than use my more usual technique of writing what comes to me then revising and rewriting. And I have absolutely no idea if anyone else will like the story, and it's definitely not something I would have written if not for the ficathon, but I have to say that I had an absolute blast! So, I'm not sorry I dived in and gave it a try. Maybe sometime in the future I'll be brave enough to try a ficathon where I don't get to look over the prompts ahead of time and choose the one I want.

I came home to find my DVD box set of Doctor Who season 4 waiting for me, yay! Can't wait to see all the scenes SciFi Channel cut out of their broadcast. And I'm also looking forward to the DVD extras. I just wish we could get the original, full-length Doctor Who Confidentials.

I'm caught up on SJA and at some point I might put down my thoughts on the latest episodes, but for now I need to unpack and hang out with the cats. Hope everyone had a good week and welcome to December!
