dbskyler: (Ten looking up)
Hi everyone,

I've decided to try a new tradition in my journal: fanfiction recommendations, based on the Doctor Who random pairing generator (which, if you're interested, can be found here).

How it works: I go to the random generator, see the characters that come up, then choose a fanfic story to recommend that is related to one or both of those characters. (But don't worry, I do give myself permission to keep trying if the first characters that show up aren't related to a fic I would recommend.)

Why: Because I think it would be nice to start spreading some fic-love around. I originally thought about calling this "Saturday fic rec" because I think it would be great if I kept it up as a tradition for every Saturday, but since I don't trust myself to be that regimented about it I won't make any promises. But yeah, if I end up doing this once a week, I think that would be good.

So, here we go with recommendation #1:

Randomly generated character: Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart
Fic: Chicks Dig the Car
Author: robling_t
Author's summary: Step away from the vehicle.
Characters: Third Doctor, Tenth Doctor, Jo Grant, Jack Harkness
Rating: All ages
Spoilers: Some references to "The Three Doctors" and "The Two Doctors," but I wouldn't call them spoilers. You might be a little confused at a sentence or two if you haven't seen those episodes, but I doubt it would interfere with your enjoyment of the story.
Length: 1336 words

Why the rec: Because it's so much fun! The Third Doctor runs into the Tenth Doctor at the Brigadier's funeral (told you the Brigadier comes into it somewhere), but that's not the story, it's just the set-up. There's great humor and wonderful interactions (Three and Ten, Ten and Jo) and a certain yellow car that the Brigadier's been keeping for the Doctor . . . both of them.
