I'm back, which some of you know already as I've been leaving comments on people's posts. For some reason I haven't been feeling much like posting, though. Maybe because I don't have much to post about?

Anyway, how's it going? Let's see, what can I say?

I'm watching the BBC America special "Best of the Doctor" right now. It's a little weird; clips from S5 and S6 interspersed with "celebrities" (most of whom I don't know -- I'm so out of the loop) talking about the Doctor and Doctor Who in general. I'm a little bored by it (which is why I'm posting during it). I think it's mostly geared towards new viewers who need an introduction to the show, but then I wonder if any new viewers would be bothering to watch it.

Ooh, my favorite "Law and Order UK" commercial just came on. "Out of the police box, into the courtroom" intones the narrator, as they show us close-ups of Peter Davison and Freema. It's Doctor Who as a courtroom drama! Maybe I have to watch it now.

Okay, this special is picking up a little bit finally. It's still fairly mindless to watch, but fun to see the clips, and Chris Hardwick is complaining about how Steven Moffat is driving him crazy, which is amusing. He doesn't know how Moffat is going to write his way out of what happened at the beginning of "The Impossible Astronaut." He's looking directly at the camera and kind of whining, "Steven." I think we're all feeling that way, Chris!

Oh, and now the special's over. Well, that killed an hour. I should go do something productive now, shouldn't I?

I have to say that I'm loving the rapport between Freema and Peter, or, more accurately, between Alesha and Henry. It's clear from looks they exchange that he sympathises with her a lot when it comes to their new senior prosecutor's attitudes (despite the fact that Henry and Jake are friends who go way back).

And I'm loving how snippy Alesha can be with Jake.

I'd definitely recommend watching, even though it lacks the other half of my OTP (Ben "James Steel" Daniels) because Freema just shines in this series.

I was wondering what you thought of Peter on the show! I'm glad you're liking the rapport between his character and Freema's character. I do want to at least check in on the new season, although I'm unlikely to become a regular viewer as those types of shows don't tend to hold my attention.

I wish Peter was in it more - but I know the reason he's not (he was still performing Legally Blonde by night while they were filming LOUK by day). But yes, it's easy to tell that Peter and Freema have bonded over the Whoniverse link.

I miss George (Peter's character's predecessor) like crazy though, and I keep mentally inserting Ben Daniels' James into all the CPS scenes! o_O

Well, I guess I can't complain as I only got to see Peter in Legally Blonde because he was still doing it . . . :)

It is difficult to get used to a replacement character on a favorite show, though. I sympathize!

Well they filmed LOUK last winter - before you came over, so you'd have seen him anyway unless he'd quit altogether (rather than merely taking a break from it).

It's especially hard when the new character (Jake) is a good deal less sympathetic than the previous character (James).

And the best bit about the 'special' was the advert?

LOL, yes, pretty much! It is a fun commercial, though. Look, someone has even put it up on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAtrlvWuW_c

I know, I want Five and Martha fic now too, and I haven't even seen Peter on the show yet! They just look like they go so well together, don't they?

Yes, never mind L&O, let's just go straight to the multi-era fics,. But YES. One clip, and I am even going, "Hmm, Five/Martha...?" Oh, dear.

Pers will probably know if such things exist. :-)

I've not seen any - but then again I no longer follow Who_Daily, so it'd depend on where such fics got posted. (I do follow some comms where such fic might show up...)
