I haven't been able to get into the new Torchwood at all. I watched the first two episodes -- with some difficulty, as I don't get Starz -- and found myself not caring about the third episode. If it had been on my TV, I might've watched it out of curiosity and a sense of Whoniverse completion (which have, truth be told, been my main motivations for watching Torchwood up until now), but I just couldn't be bothered to go looking for it.

However, I did find a great replacement that gives me the sense of being in the loop without having to actually watch the episode: "Torchwood in Ten Minutes" episode recaps at http://www.afterelton.com. They're probably funnier if you've seen the episode in question, but amusing even if you haven't.

ETA: there are spoilers for the show in the comments below.

10 minutes of new Torchwood sounds like more than enough!

You can read it in 5 minutes if you're quick . . . ; )

Or I could save myself time and not read it at all (I'm really NOT interested in it).

Thanks for the link. Those are absolutely hilarious! I'm also having a hard time getting hold of the episodes, but being a Doctor Who completist I'll still make the effort.

I'm making an effort to enjoy Miracle Day - with some reservations. I can't warm up to any of the characters besides the old regulars. Rex, Lynn and Esther are irritating. Jilly and Oswald are creepy. Newman is Newman. Vera is the only new one I really like so far.

I do lament the lack of people to discuss it with. It seems that many of the Janto fans have taken over all the Torchwood comms and are still boycotting the show.

Yeah, I didn't warm to any of the new characters, either. I didn't mind Esther or Vera, but I wasn't rooting for either of them, and the others I actively disliked. Of course you're supposed to dislike Oswald, but yes, majorly creepy! I don't like watching creepy people on TV. I hated Jilly, too. And yes, Rex was irritating, which is a problem because a lot of the story was being told from his POV, but I mostly wanted him off my screen.

I found myself not even that happy to see most of the old characters. I guess they were making the point that Gwen had been emotionally scarred by COE, but it was sad to see her so aggressive and trigger-happy. Jack's entrance was good, but we didn't get enough of his POV. I wanted to know more about how he was feeling about things, and especially what he thought about the return of his mortality. (This is a chronic problem with Torchwood, though; Jack is the "enigmatic" character on the show, and so even though he's the lead on it, I always feel I know less about him than I do in his appearances in Doctor Who, and I therefore get less invested in him.)

I don't know, maybe things got better in episode 3, but based on the afterelton site's 10-minute recap, it didn't look like it.

I've never been really into Torchwood, so I'm not familiar with the Torchwood comms, but you can't find any that are actually discussing the show? That's pretty sad. Are all that Janto fans filling those comms with posts about how wonderful they are because they're refusing to watch since Ianto's still dead?
