Yes, I think my reaction to this episode is going to become a series . . .

First off, I just watched the episode for the third time, and I think I love it more each time. There's so much you notice and pick up on each time (especially in my case, because I never catch all of the dialogue the first time through, what with the background noise and the speaking quickly and the British accents).

Next, a question: Why in the world is Melody Pond's name on the Doctor's cot? In Gallifreyan, no less? I confess that this didn't bother me at all the first time I saw the episode, but now that I've had some time to reflect -- it's a little strange, isn't it? Did the Doctor write on the cot before bringing it out? Except I don't know why he'd bother to do that, and also the writing looked a little old. Does the TARDIS label everything? Did it magically appear when River touched the cot's side? Or is this just one of those unexplained things that I should let go?

An observation: That scene where Matt tells the Colonel he wants him to be known as Colonel Runaway? The more I see it, the more impressed I get with Matt's performance. He is chilling. This is the Doctor who proclaimed himself the Time Lord Victorious. I think I was really, honestly scared of what he might do next (as was he).

Another observation: River's dressing-down was marvelous. I also really loved the implied comparison between Classic Who and New Who. The Doctor did used to be an average Time Lord who knocked about the universe for fun. Now he's all "Lonely God." Moffat managed to have that change make sense, and also use it as a warning to the Doctor.

And finally, a personal observation: I have decided that I like that River is Amy and Rory's daughter. I can't help it; I just absolutely love the way that Matt and Alex play that scene (especially Matt, with his happiness and his little worried backwards glance towards the parents). They just sell it for me, and I can't help buying.

I'm still baffled as to whose name is on the cot. Logically it should be the Doctor's - because if it was River's, he'd have known who River was already... So yeah - bit of a fluff there, methinks.

Yes, if it's anyone's name (as opposed to "sweet dreams" or whatever), you'd think it'd be the Doctor's.

Kind of deflates Ten's "there's only one time I'd tell my name" speech in Forest of the Dead, doesn't it? "Oh, I forgot to tell you, I know your name because I read it on the side of your cot."

Yeah.

I was thinking, if he'd put Melody's name on the cradle (ie Melody Pond) that might explain some things - though not everything.
