(Signal boost picked up from [personal profile] curuchamion.)

I know what you're thinking: Every so often, on a semi-regular basis, [community profile] calufrax asks for more reccers, and then people sign up. This is just the same thing again, right?

Well, wrong. It's different this time. The mod asked for more reccers, and hardly anyone signed up. [community profile] calufrax will soon be going to an every-other-week schedule just because there aren't enough reccers!

So, if you're like me and you really enjoy getting daily [community profile] calufrax recs, please try to help in one or both of the following ways:

1. Signal boost this call for reccers. You never know who might see it.

2. If you can, please sign up to rec. It's easy, and it's fun! You don't have to be a writer, and you definitely don't have to be part of a special "in crowd." (Hey, they let me do it -- they'll let anyone!) The only qualifications you need are a) you read Doctor Who fanfiction on Teaspoon, and b) you have favorite stories that you would like to recommend to other people. That's it!

How do I rec Calufrax, you ask? All you do is sign up here (you have to join the comm first, but membership is open), then choose between 4-7 fics to rec for the week. It's not a great idea to rec the same pairing all week (not everyone agrees with you about Five/Kamelion's epic love), but other than that, the basic idea is simply to share your favorites! If you like a fic, chances are that someone else out there will like it too, and they may never find the fic unless you tell them about it. And wouldn't that be a sad thing?

Last time I rec'd for Calufrax I got an earful from a couple of people because of one of the fics I picked. That's put me off doing it again. I didn't do it to generate a flame war/wankstorm/bitch fight.

Aw. *hugs* I think I would run if anyone had been nasty to me over it. I've had a couple of perfectly lovely stories go down like a lead balloon & one week that was rather scarily quiet compared to the others, but otherwise I've been lucky.

It'd be nice to think that idiots have cleared off and you'd be safe to go back in the water, but there's no telling is there? It's a shame, cos I'd like to see what you'd rec - you read, or certainly have read, so widely on Teaspoon!! *hugs again*

(PS. While my comment below loaded, your icon stuck on Six and he glared at me all the while. Eek!)

No, there isn't any telling. I wouldn't mind doing it again, given how many really good stories are in my favourites but I don't watch another attack.

I don't understand it, if they don't like a pairing/character in a story, why don't they just ignore it (which is what I do when people rec Rose/Doctor stories for most/all of the week)... No need to get nasty about it.

I still can't believe you had this happen to you. It's pretty outrageous behavior to attack someone just because you don't agree with their rec! I think it's even worse than blaming someone for writing fic you don't like, and that's bad enough.

I know. I was pretty upset, esp since I was still fairly new to both fandom and LJ - and didn't have the more robust "Oppress the hell out of them" attitude that I now possess...

What do you mean, not everyone ships Five/Kamelion!

I'd pick this up, but I think I've said enough for the minute. My flist will be throwing things!!

But, aw. I have managed to recruit Curu, she has recruited someone. [livejournal.com profile] cersia5 just made these fun promotional icons for it... *fingers crossed it'll work*

Oops. I can see it was flocked, so you won't be able to see them. But, you know, they were nice. Unofficial, but nice. ;-)

Well, hypothetically speaking, there might be a few who don't, right? ; )

I know what you meant about the spamming. But I feel like we've done a pretty good job in helping to get the word out. There's already been some result, and hopefully there will be more! We'll really know we've succeeded if it starts to get picked up beyond our flists.

(On the other hand, as my flist tends to share my taste in fic, I don't mind at all if the next few months of Calufrax are all recced by my flist. I've been loving your recs so far this week. *g*)

Only Daleks don't ship Five/Kamelion.

Daleks and Adric fans.

*dances* It seems to have worked! [livejournal.com profile] jjpor picked it up, too, and since he is secretly the Master in disguise, he has hypnotised everyone into joining up... :-D

I think, all together, we didn't do badly, did we? *indulges in momentary smugness*

Aw, and thanks - hope you enjoy the rest of the week, too.

No, we didn't do badly at all! In fact, I'm feeling very proud of us, too! *joins you in the slightly smug glee*

What makes me happiest is seeing that there still is such strong support out there for Calufrax. I think JJPOR was absolutely right (as he usually is): it wasn't that people no longer cared about Calufrax; instead, they had grown complacent about it. "Oh yeah, I'll get around to reccing someday, but meanwhile look at all these recs by other people that I get to read!"

Then there are all the people who didn't want to rec, but are now giving it a try (or a try again). Hopefully they'll all become regular reccers!
