being fiscally responsible . . . sort of

So yesterday the season 4 DVD box set of Doctor Who finally came out in the U.S., and yesterday and today I took a tour around various stores to check prices. Here's what I found:
Barnes and Noble -- didn't have it on the shelves. But their seasons 3, 2 and 1 box sets were $100 each, so I'm guessing that if they managed to pull one from the back it would have been $100.
Circuit City -- didn't have it on the shelves. Not a large DVD collection in general, and I wouldn't have bothered checking there if it hadn't been on the way home.
Borders -- on sale for 20% off of $100 = $80.
Virgin Megastore -- $100.
And the winner is. . . amazon.com, which is selling it for $65. Except now I'm going to have to wait to get it. But that's a big enough price difference that I somehow just can't bring myself to go grab it at Borders, and even though I've spent $15 on frivolous things in the past, getting something 6-10 days earlier for $15 just isn't fun and frivolous enough. However, what would be fun and frivolous would be to use that extra $15 to buy something else at the same time . . . say a Doctor Who audiobook read aloud by David Tennant? Hmm...
