Okay, I am trying out cross-posting from Dreamwidth. Is this working? Hello?

Not sure how much cross-posting I will be doing though, to be honest. I guess it will depend upon how easy this is (does look pretty easy so far), and how much time I end up spending on Dreamwidth vs. LJ. From what I can tell, the LJ Doctor Who communities seem to be far more active. Anyone know any communities like sarahjane_fic and doctoreleven on Dreamwidth?

Further to my comment at LJ:

I don't know if there might be some more specialized Who-fandom comms that have started up recently. You could try an interest search - apparently the DW Site Search is fairly powerful - and if you strike out there, try [community profile] create_my_comm and see if there's enough common interest to set up comms for Eleventy and SJA fans over here based on doctoreleven and sarahjane_fic.

I believe it will be what we make it - and to that end I've been in communication with mad_jaks about a parallel dw100 here, have asked about the possibility of a calufrax comm here and am now contemplating a sister site for fic_rush. :-) There's a ton of fans who are still busy rearranging their new furniture and fiddling around with their new digs here, I think it will only grow as we find out stride.

Oh certainly - not in a way that would be to 'compete', but the concept may be applied in some other way or at some other time is all I was thinking. Unless everyone interested just comes over to DW (hey, I can be hopeful - I'm an optimist!). ;-)

Ah! It's user name=(name of comm). I think there's a good newbie guide linked from the official Dreamwidth FAQ that mentions this and a few other markup changes.

I'm not in any Doctor Who comms here, but the Latest Things will link to any public entries tagged with "Doctor Who" - and there's usually quite a lot of them.

That might be a good way for you to discover the more active parts of the Dreamwidth fandom.

O hai!

Yeah, sluggish communities are a problem on DWth at the moment. I'd love to see an "Import Community" tool, though I imagine it'd be a heck of a lot more involved than their (very successful) "import journal" tool. The only Whoey comm I know of on my rlist is "doctorwho"

Yay for Crossposting!

As for dreamwidth.... I've searched around and as far as I know doctorwho is the only dreamwidth comm I could really find, and even then that one is barely active. There *are* probably other communities floating around though. You probably have to wait more, dreamwidth may be gaining members but lj is still far more populated and therefore more active.

Yeah, that's the only comm I could find too. Well, room for growth . . .

It was easy, too! It feels like magic in a way. The internet is cool. We should buy the internet a fez.

It seems odd that doctorwho would be the only comm, but it might be. I guess that means they won't object if I start posting SJA stuff there round about oh, say, October? :D

I have a feeling I'll still be hanging out mostly on LJ, but it's nice to have a little Dreamwidth camp.

Hmmm... I've seen others on my flist crosspost from Dreamwidth and there is usually a little tagline in italics that says something like "Originally posted on Dreamwidth". I wonder why yours doesn't have that???

It doesn't have it because I chose not to display it. I think it makes sense to have that tagline if you're only allowing comments over on Dreamwidth, but I see no reason to constantly advertise where you're posting from. I've posted this here on LJ, you can comment here on LJ, so does it matter that I posted using Dreamwidth's software, and that there's another copy of the post over there? I don't know, I suppose to some people it matters, but personally I don't quite get the point of the tagline.

I always figured it was so people could follow the conversation/comments over there if they wanted to? But it doesn't really matter in the end.

The cross-posting works fine.

The lack of communities is one of the only things really holding me back now I think; most of my F'list is migrating. I guess as more of us go over there more communities will show up.

Oh, good point, I hadn't thought of that. Hmm. Maybe I'll put the tagline back in, or a customized version of it.
