dbskyler: (Ten looking up)

[community profile] fic_rush is this weekend (still an awesome event if anyone wants to join in, by the way) and I have decided to go into it with my very own set of 10 writing prompts, with the idea that I will spend the time writing to as many of those prompts as possible. I might do a bunch of drabbles or ficlets, or snatches of conversations, or a prompt might catch fire and turn into a full-fledged fic . . . but no matter what, the idea will be to keep writing, and to write as much as possible, and to keep myself going by having different prompts and ideas to turn to in the hope that this will lure my muses back from the vacation they seem to have gone on.

Clicking away on the DW random pairings generator has given me 7 prompts, so I am looking for 3 more. So, if there's anything you've always wished I would write, now's your chance! Suggest as many prompts as you like, and I will take the 3 that inspire me the most into fic_rush this weekend, and hopefully produce something on them. In fact I might take more than 3, because possibly something you guys come up with will inspire me more than the ones from the random pairings generator.

The prompts can take whatever form you like, but I'd suggest at a minimum giving me a character or a set of characters, plus a phrase or a setting or a circumstance to get me going. You can also do "what if" scenarios, or "tell me about the time" scenarios, or anything you can think of, really. You can use any fandom / characters I know (feel free to ask if you're not sure), and you can suggest crossovers. If I choose your prompt, I will try to write on it this weekend; if I don't get to it, or don't finish it, then I will take it up again in the not-so-distant future.

Ooh, I'm kind of excited to see what you guys come up with now . . . well, assuming anyone wants to see me try to write to their prompt, that is. ; )

Ten, Martha & Sarah Jane - K9/Mr Smith repair and maintenance (I'm thinking Ten does it while Martha and Sarah Jane get to discuss the Doctor over tea and cake... *Smirks*) You could make a S3 missing scene thing, if you like - so that's why Martha and Ten are together.

Ten/Sarah Jane - there's a tin dog in your safe. (Shippy or unshippy)

Sarah Jane & Liz Shaw - old companions meet to bemoan the Doctor's random visits (maybe a later incarnation than Three but earlier than Ten has shown up to pester both of them for something or other. Eight's my personal preference but whomever tickles your fancy. Maybe he turns up to pester Liz and getting no joy/sympathy goes off to pester SJS instead?)

ETA: PS My brain suddenly got itself into gear at 9.30pm last night - JUST as I was going to bed! I ended up staying up until 10.30pm to write 1000 words on one of my incomplete fics!

The Doctor (which one your pick) ends up having to temporarily fill in a main part on part of a Gilbert & Sullivan performance (which play, your pick) with mixed results. ;-D

So you think I'm likely to be tempted by Sarah Jane prompts?? I wonder what could have given you that idea . . . *g*

And hmm, yes, all three of those do look interesting! One question, though -- if I choose the third one, how would you feel about my using Jo instead of Liz? I know I can write Jo, but I'm not sure about Liz -- it's been awhile since I've seen a Liz episode -- although I might decide to give it a shot.

Congrats on the sudden writing inspiration! 1000 words in one hour, wow!

Wait, you want me to try to figure out which Doctors sing tenor, and which sing baritone? :D

(Okay, Ten is obviously made for patter songs . . . and OMG, Six as Pooh-Bah! Yes, some interesting possibilities here, thank you!)

Weeeeeeellllllll....

*giggles* Can't THINK what gave me that idea! :D

If you can write it with Jo instead of Liz, go for it. I prefer Liz, but don't let that stop you!

Congrats on the sudden writing inspiration! 1000 words in one hour, wow!

I know! SHEER madness! Especially as I was already *really* sleepy by that point! I was perched on the side of my bed, tapping away at the keyboard like a lunatic!

And I've written another 800 words, or so, today so I'd say the block is gone, at least for now!

Have you heard Doctor Who and the Pirates? Six and Evelyn do G&S - TO DIE FOR and totally recommended.

After my one completely unsuccessful attempt at buying a Big Finish audio, I have yet to try again, so no, I haven't heard it yet. It's definitely on the list, though! You're far from the first person to recommend it to me.

Ouchies!!

I agree with you, though - the site is NOT well laid out for finding things. And I've had my own hassles when trying to purchase online - in the end, I rang and placed the particular order over the phone (which I agree isn't really an option when you're on another continent!)

A big problem was that I thought I'd be able to just click a link, enter a credit card, and download -- in and out, 5 minutes tops. The site is not made for that, and as you say, it's difficult to navigate, especially for brand-new users.

I predict that I'll try again some day, but so far I haven't been sufficiently motivated to do it. I'm sure that when I finally do I'll have a much easier time, though, if for no other reason than I'll know what to expect!

...do you live in my head, or do I live in yours? ;-) I can't remember if I ever put this one up on Straybunnies, but I've had a random throwaway line about "the time Four had to fill in for Rutland Barrington" stuck in my WIP folder for years!

I'm pretty sure I would've noticed if that one had shown up at [profile] dw_straybunnies. Did you have any particular role in mind?
