I saw "Face the Raven" and loved it, but while I normally rush to re-watch my favorite episodes, I really don't want to watch it a second time. I may never, ever want to see that episode, or any portions of that episode, again. But it was a really good episode.

After all my hesitation about doing Yuletide this year and not being matchable, I got a great match and had the easiest writing experience I've ever had. My fic is back from beta and I think it might be ready to post. And it's not even December yet! How did this happen?

In the meantime, I'm late on my promised contribution to the 52nd anniversary fanworkathon at [community profile] who_at_50. Partly this is because I got on a roll with my Yuletide fic and didn't want to interrupt it, and partly it's because I have no idea what to post. My original idea was to do a kind of retrospective on SJA, talking about all the little nods to Classic Who (plus some big ones -- SO glad that we got the Brig in SJA!), but now I'm wondering if I should write fic or something instead. Of course, if I try to write fic, there's no telling how long that will take me. Except that I am apparently on a roll, as I just finished my Yuletide fic in record (for me) time.

Ha, Face the Raven is one I had to rewatch - or at least part of it! (I feed on the right kind of sad, and that was.) But, aww. ♥

Well done on your Yule-fic, though - that's brilliant! \o/ I am envious; I'm worrying about defaulting if I don't come out of brain-dead mode soon. But, yay, go you!

I'm greedy; I'd say fic for the fest - but your other idea sounds really cool too. So whichever you feel up to, or most likely to complete, or... both!!

I still can't rewatch "Face the Raven." BBC America showed it again right before "Heaven Sent," and I found myself sitting in front of the television trying to calculate the exact best moment to change the channel so I would a) not see any of "Face the Raven" but b) see the very beginning of "Heaven Sent." I like sad sometimes too, but not this time. Maybe I'm just not ready yet?

I'm still amazed at how the writing of my Yule-fic went. But just as writing for Yuletide will sometimes be easier, it will also sometimes be harder. That is not your fault! Don't worry about defaulting; just keep plugging away and decide at the default deadline whether the fic is likely to come together or not. The default button is there for a reason, and there is nothing wrong with using it! You don't even have to do anything to make up for it unless you're a serial defaulter, which you most definitely are not. Of course, I hope you start to feel less brain-dead -- for lots of reasons that are far more important than writing for Yuletide -- but I also hope you manage to write for Yuletide. But the point is, even if you don't manage to write for Yuletide, that is totally okay and not something you should feel bad about, or worry over. *hugs*

As it turned out, I didn't manage to get either of my ideas in by the 30th for [community profile] who_at_50, but I'm still mulling over ideas. Maybe?

Aww. It's understandable! I loved Face the Raven, but I recently tried watching a thing called River, which had Nicola Walker in (she's always very good), but it turned out her character was a ghost and it was all about grief and I had to delete it off my DVR. It's always a lot about where we are and what hits us in the right/wrong ways. *pets you* (I hope you managed to switch on at the right moment!!)

I go in and out of brain-dead mode; I was out of it the last few days, but it depends what else I have on. And you're right - I've never defaulted on yuletide, so it wouldn't be terrible if I had to. Hopefully not, but I think if I'm not making progress by the weekend, I might press that button next week - I want my recipient to get a lovely story!

Heh, go for it! I know JJ never minds late entries. Or just non-entries that are extra fanworks. ♥
