dbskyler: (up to eleven)

Just thought I'd share that I went back to re-watch "Eleventh Hour" tonight and was surprised by the early mentions of "silence will fall" and the Pandorica. I had honestly forgotten that those were present right from the beginning of Eleven's era. And then I tried to remember when all the various plot points had been settled, and I couldn't quite recall. I kept mixing up whether something was wrapped up with Amy or with Clara, or had to do with Trenzalore, or with River, or with all of the above. Apparently we're only one episode into Twelve, and Eleven's timeline is already a great big muddled mass in my head. Of course, some of it was a great big muddled mass in my head as soon as it was broadcast, so perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised.

Yeah, the plot lines were mapped out from the beginning but seemed to be a bit haphazard in the way they all resolved. I did like the way they showed Eleven's traveling backward through time in the Angels two-parter. That was pretty cool, that the fact he was wearing his jacket when he spoke to her was not a continuity error. But the whole "silence will fall" thing was not as well-packaged as I'd hoped.

I think the problem is that I now tend to associate "silence will fall" with Trenzalore, even though most of the Silence plot arc took place earlier. But no, it wasn't that well-packaged. In fact, come to think of it: what was the point again? The Silence wanted to kill the Doctor so he wouldn't answer the question "Doctor Who?" when the Time Lords asked it through the Crack at Trenzalore? Was that the final result? Aw, never mind. I really disliked "Time of the Doctor," and I'd just as soon not try to figure it out again.

I did love the whole Jacket!Doctor thing. I think "The Big Bang" might be my favorite Eleventh Doctor episode.
