Yup, I feel the same. It's annoying - because the ensemble cast is brilliant, the cinematography is bloody gorgeous, and I love Howard Shore's music - it's just the rest is so wrong.
And unlike some people, I simply cannot separate them into Book!Tolkien and Movie!Tolkien, because after all these years, they're simply too engrained in my head. (It's been 37 years since I first read The Hobbit, and 30 since I first read The Lord of the Rings, and I've read them both numerous time since.)
