dbskyler: (Sarah from Hand of Fear)
Yuletide scares the hell out of me. Seriously, the whole "what if my recipient requests something I can't write?" issue is terrifying. The first year I signed up for Yuletide, which was several years ago now, I felt extremely lucky because my recipient requested something that I felt I could write. After several years off, I have finally screwed up my courage to do Yuletide again, and I just read my assignment . . .

. . . and I must be extremely lucky again, because my recipient has requested something that I think I can write. :D

In fact, the list of likes and dislikes in my recipient's letter are not at all dissimilar to the likes and dislikes I put in my own letter.

Did I get extremely lucky twice? Or are the odds of matching up with someone who really wants smut (or something else I absolutely can't write) smaller than I fear? The only other possibility I can think of is that the matching program used my Yuletide letter as part of its algorithm, which seems unlikely. ; )
