to buy or not to buy?
Aug. 30th, 2008 11:11 amI am thinking of buying the new 25th anniversary edition of "The Five Doctors" just so I can hear David Tennant's commentary, which feels a little silly but perhaps it would be good to own it on DVD just to own it. I do have the episode on videotape, but by "videotape" I mean taped-off-the-television-in-1983 videotape. So it's old, and likely to go "boom" anytime now. After all, that's already happened to my only-slightly-older videotape containing "Brain of Morbius" and "Android Invasion," although fortunately "Brain of Morbius" is finally scheduled to be out on DVD here in just a little over a month. That one I'm definitely buying.
So, to "Five Doctors" . . . the problem is, it doesn't really fall into the "buy it on DVD" category for me. It was an okay episode, but not something I have felt drawn to re-watching that often, and that's my usual criteria for buying something on DVD, particularly if I already have it on videotape. I'd get it through Netflix, but they don't seem to be carrying the 2008 release, which is very frustrating.
Most likely I'll end up buying it. I kind of feel in the mood to spend money today.
