Broadchurch episode 3 reaction post

Okay, this show has just gotten so ridiculous, I'm actually starting to laugh at it now. Beth Latimer gives birth, and then a few hours later goes to watch the court case? Right. And her elder daughter can just play with the baby in the lobby, because a newborn (about as "newborn" as you can get) doesn't need to be fed very often or anything.

Then all that stuff about Hardy and Miller having an affair? Where the hell did that come from? Does the deffense attorney even believe it, or is it just a tactic? Oh, and Miller can only give evidence as a police officer, not as the wife, and then all of the questions -- including those from the prosecution -- are about her sex life, LOL.

At least the acting is good, although I really don't know how they're keeping straight faces through some of this.

I know right! Mind, it's written by Chris Chibnall, who probably doesn't know anything about giving birth and didn't bother asking anyone who does.

I doubt the defence lawyer believes Miller and Hardy had an affair - she's just fishing.

I've noticed that Chibnall keeps slipping in these throwaway "explanations" whenever he wants the characters to do things that make no sense. He has Beth say she'll take painkillers so she can go to court, like that will make a difference. But the fact that he even put in that line means the ridiculousness did occur to him; he just didn't care.

Yup!! I found the second series a real mixed bag. And I'm not sure I'll watch S3.
