In the middle of watching season two of "Downton Abbey," and omg, Violet Crawley is such a wonderful character! I adore her. I don't always (often?) agree with her, but I absolutely adore her.
Yes, I ended up doing a big marathon of it today since I had the DVD and some unexpected free time. There were lots of other things I should've been doing instead, actually, but I needed a break, and this was perfect.
Aw. A reward after your application! I'm glad you had something nice like Downton to hand.
I love Gosford Park. It was because of that I was hopping up and down with impatience waiting for DA to finally arrive. ITV kept saying it was coming for about 2 years. Gosford Park is set later, so it's more cynical, because by that time everyone's hanging onto a way of life that they actually know has passed, whereas in Downton it's just at that point, and nobody really quite knows that yet. But Maggie Smith is present and correct, (and there's Helen Mirren, Eileen Atkins, Michael Gambon... well, it's one of those casts where everyone's pretty famous and great.)

I haven't seen Gosford Park! That's a good idea.
