Pardon me while I get incredibly self-indulgent here, but I just had to spread the word that someone has made a podfic of one of my stories!!!!

The podficcer contacted me first for permission, then sent me a message that the podfic is done and posted. I have to say that I was incredibly surprised that someone wanted to podfic one of my stories, let alone that story ("Once Upon a Time" for the interested), but after listening, I think it's beautifully done. In fact, it made me appreciate the story in a whole new way. I usually prefer text to audio, but maybe fairy tales really are meant to be read aloud.

Aw, thanks! I thought the podficcer did an excellent job of reading it, especially given its nonlinear structure. I had it easy in the text; I just had to throw in some asterisks whenever I made a jump. :D

Thanks! I was pretty blown away to get the request. Not that I know much about podficcing, because I don't, but just a general perusal of that comm shows that genfic doesn't seem to be podficced that often. Although perhaps that's just a reflection of the general ratio of genfic to shipfic in fandom.

The funniest thing was, I went to download it, then had an automatic "wait, is this something I'm comfortable downloading; does it violate a copyright?" reaction. And then I remembered that I was the one who wrote the thing. ;D

Well, I already knew that you like the fic, seeing as you recced it and everything. ;D I really didn't think anyone would ever want to podfic a story of mine, but you know, hypothetically, if you'd asked me to guess which fic was most likely to get podficced, I wouldn't have guessed that one. I would've guessed something more popular, or more straightforward, or both. But I'm completely ignorant about what makes a good podfic. I did think it turned out really well.
