I mean, I know it's Casanova, not the Doctor, but David is using the same accent, and a lot of the same mannerisms, and damn it, I give up, here, have a video of the Doctor confessing to a priest about all the sex he's been having lately.

LOL! I'd forgotten how much I like that scene! It's incredibly disconcerting how much like the Doctor his mannerisms are there. If I didn't know better I'd say it was just a bad actor who only knows how to play one character - but there is way too much evidence to the contrary.

Yes, it's a funny scene, but very disconcerting!!! And I agree, we have tons of evidence that David is very skilled at acting and can definitely come across as entirely different -- it's not him. Since Casanova came first, I can only assume that RTD encouraged him to play the Doctor similarly (and wrote dialogue in the same way).
