SJA Series Four DVD

My Sarah Jane Adventures Series Four DVD boxset is here. I watched "Death of the Doctor" and thoroughly enjoyed it.

And then I went back and played the first DVD from the beginning, and saw what I had missed by going straight to the episode: the boxset is dedicated to the memory of Elisabeth Sladen.

Which is nice, but now I am all sad again.

Cancer still sucks.

Awww. Sad, but I'm so glad they did the dedication.

Part of the peculiar nature of Doctor Who is that its In Memorium list is very long, and grows longer, as a direct result of the show's longevity.

:(

I'm glad there's a dedication, though. But yeah. Reminder :(

Not that I want to make everyone cry buckets, but doesn't it just?.

(Hi. *waves*)

Aw. I know; it doesn't stop being sad. *hugs*

Yes, cancer still sucks. :( I'm listening to the latest Big Finish podcast right now, and they have a clip of an interview with ES right before the second season of the audios came out. Very interesting, yet--*tear*.

I'm glad they put in the dedication too, but I wish I'd been braced for it. Doctor Who has lost a lot of actors, but none whose death has hit me so hard as Lis Sladen's.

Damn you and that link! So much for not crying tonight. (Although it was very good.)

[identity profile] dbskyler.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. And silly me, I was completely unprepared. I guess I subconsciously assumed that any dedication would go on Series Five, not Series Four.

It is nice that it's there, though.

I've been wondering if she did a commentary for "Android Invasion." On the one hand I'm hoping that she did, but if it's there, it's going to be very hard to listen to it.

But let us not be sad, for I posted that link and then there were TWO MOE EPISODES OF DW IN THE WORLD! I have seen long lost Patrick Troughton!!

Also Vicki with a Chumbly!! We all know what Rills look like; we can stop wondering.

(I take it you did see that, yes? It's been a bit hard to miss. You remember what I said about my attitude to supposedly bad DW? Apparently I am quite happy to get bits of Galaxy 4 and The Underwater Menace. 106!!!)

Indeed, the clip, and the marvellous picture of Patrick Troughton in an amazingly silly hat makes me think that we have probably not been appreciating the true wonder of TUM all these years. :-) There is another Ben and Polly ep!!

(I thought I'd not be hyper about it by this morning, but apparently that is not the case. I think it's just we'd all been persuaded it really would stay at 108 forever. The downside is... it's awoken the insatiable need for them to find MOAR. And of ocurse they may not.)

/end flail. Sorry, this was meant to be a sad post, wasn't it?

You're absolutely right. I watched the vid, and felt sad and nostalgic for most of it, and then Lis Sladen's picture appeared and I was almost sobbing. It's a much, much harder blow. :(

Yes, two more episodes of Doctor Who! Although you've seen them already??!! Wow, that's impressive!

I still haven't caught up on all the First and Second Doctor episodes that we already knew existed, but now I can look forward to seeing a Rill. : )

 No, I didn't get invited to the BFI - there are two 1 min clips on YouTube that the BBC have released. :-)

(here and here. Maybe I am a bit sad, but I cried, especially at how marvellous it is to see Patrick Troughton - he's so visual/physical as an actor that listening to the audios is an incredibly frustrating thing. I spend all my time wondering what expressions he was making/what he was doing!)

Quite! :-D

[identity profile] dbskyler.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just one question: why do you want to blow up the world?" OMG, that was marvelous! And you're right, the best part was the expression on Patrick Troughton's face.

As for the Rill, LOL at the way it wobbled! Although I think the top part wobbling while it talked was actually a purposeful, but unfortunate, choice.

Still, my award for most unfortunate alien costume still goes to Alpha Centauri from the Peladon stories. And they used him twice!!

:-D He really is. Not that other people aren't, but he really is. ♥

Heh, also that thing was a Chumbly (or Chumbley, I am uncertain over the spelling) which are the robot things that the Rills use to communicate - they hide themselves because they are so ugly, which is why we fans didn't know what they looked like. I saw the picture of Rill in one of the articles, I think. It looked v 1960s monster-like. :-) (Yes, I'm sorry, I was incoherent in my joy. This happens quite a bit.)
