my one-year Doctor Who anniversary

Today is my "Doctor Who" one-year anniversary. No, not the anniversary of when I became a fan of the show -- that was so long ago, I have no idea how long ago it was. Back in the '70's sometime. But one year ago today, I posted my very first Doctor Who fanfic story to Teaspoon, and thus officially joined the "Doctor Who" online fandom community. And it's been an amazing time ever since.
This community is great. Seriously, I am amazed at how many smart, creative and just all-around nice people I've met here. When I started, I had no idea I would still be here a year later, and not just on Teaspoon but on LJ too, with a journal that I actually keep up on a pretty regular basis and an flist and LJ communities that I post to and comment in. I have written 10 Whoniverse fanfics, with an 11th in progress, and I never would have guessed that either. Before Teaspoon I had only published two fanfic stories -- both in print zines, before the days of posting on the internet -- and written an occasional fic to languish away on my computer. One of those, started 8 years ago, is still unfinished to this day.
I've made friends, I've gotten important "insider" information (like how to access the Easter Egg commentary on "The Five Doctors" DVD, which I never would have discovered on my own), and I've even been recced on Calufrax (sorry, still not tired of saying that *g*).
The Whoniverse online community has its issues -- there's occasional drama, fanwank and trolling -- and too many Doctor/Rose OTPers ; ) -- but overall? It's a pretty damn good place to hang out in on the internet. I want to say thanks to all of you -- the whole community, and that means everyone reading this, whether you read my journal on a regular basis or just happened to wander in. Thanks for making it a great year, and happy anniversary!
